The drug Basal consists of dried seeds of Allium cepa L. (Liliaceae); a biennial herb, cultivated throughout India for its leaves and bulbs; used as vegetable. It flowers during February to March.

  • Theraputic Use(s): Alopecia areata (Daa-us-Salab), Melasma/Chloasma (Kalaf), Pityriasis alba (Bahaq), Sexual debility (Zof-e-Bah), Neurasthenia (Zof- e-Asab)
