BEHIDANA

The drug Behidana consists of dried seeds of Cydonia oblonga Mill. (Rosaceae); a shrub indigenous to Persia: but distributed throughout Europe and other countries. It is cultivated in Afghanistan North West Frontier province. In India it is found in Punjab, Kashmir and Nilgiris. The plant occurs throughout the year. Flowering and fruiting take place during August- September

  • Action(s): Attenuant (Mulattif), Febrifuge (Musakkin-e- Hararat), Curative for acute cough(Dafi-e-Sual Had), Curative for Catarrh (Dafi-e- Nazla)

  • Theraputic Use(s): Dysentery(Zaheer), Hyperacidity(Humuzat-e-Meda), Intestinal ulcer(Qarha-e-Ama), Bilious disorders (Amraz-e-Safrawi), Feeling of roughness in throat(Khushunat-e-Halq), Acute catarrh (Nazla Har)

  • Dose: 3 -9 g. (Powder) 30-40 g. (Soaked seeds)
