The drug Beesh consists of dried roots of Aconitum chasmanthum Stapf. ex Holmes (Ranunculaceae); plant is an erect, perennial herb, occurs in sub alpine and alpine zones of the western Himalayas, in high plateaus between 2000-4000 m, roots are generally collected late in September.
Temperament: Hot and Dry
Action(s): Antipyretic (Dafi-e-Bukhar), Calming agent (Musakkin), Local anaesthetic (Mukhaddir Maqami), Diuretic and Emmenagogue (Mudirr-e-Baul wa Haiz), Beneficial for melancholic and Phlegmatic disorders (Nafi-e-Amraz-e-Saudaviya wa Balghamiya), (Muhaiyyij-e-Jild)
Theraputic Use(s): Migraine(Shaqiqa), Sciatica(Irq-un-Nasa), Pleurisy(Zat-ul-Janb), Pneumonia(Zat-ur-Riya), Humma(Bukhar), Retention of urine and Amenorrhoea (Ehtibas-e-Baul wa Haiz), Leprosy(Juzam), Vitiligo(Bars), Bronchial asthma(Zeeq-un- Nafas), Malignant ulcers(Qurooh Khabisa)
Dose: 15-30 mg.
