The drug Sudab (Barg) consists of dried leaves of Ruta graveolens L. (Rutaceae). The plant is a native of the Mediterranean region and also cultivated in Indian gardens. It grows during August-November flowering and fruiting take place during October-November
Temperament: Hot and Dry
Action(s): Roughness producing irritant (Mukharrish), Resolvent (Mohallil), Carminative (Kasir-e-Riyah), Dryness producing agent (Mujaffif), Emmenagogue (Mudirr-e-Haiz), Nervine stimulant (Moharrik-e-Asab).
Theraputic Use(s): Pityrisis alba (Bahaq), Vitiligo (Bars), Flatulence (Nafkh-e-Shikam), Amenorrhoea (Ehtibas-e-Tams), Hysteria (Ikhtenaq-ur-Rahem), Infantile Epilepsy (Umm-us-Sibyan), Gastralgia (Waja-ul-Meda).
Dose: 5-10 g.
