The drug Belgiri consists of pulp of entire, unripe or half ripe fruits of Aegle marmelos (L.) Corr. (Rutaceae); a drug yielding plant is a tree, attaining a height of 12 m. growing wild and also cultivated throughout the country; rind of fruit is removed and pulp is bruised and dried.
Temperament: Cold & Dry 20
Action(s): Astringent (Qabiz), Haemostyptic (Habis-ud-dam), Stomachic (Muqawwi-e-Meda), Antipyretic (Dafi-e-Humma)
Theraputic Use(s): Dysentery with passage of blood (Zaheer Damavi), Diarrhoea (Ishal)
Dose: 2 to 3 g.
